Sr. Software Engineer - SAP/ABAP

Today's enterprise packaged applications (i.e., Oracle, PeopleSoft & SAP) environments are challenged by an escalating rate of change, increasing complexity, rising demands and expectations by customers and user communities, and ever-shrinking budgets. SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, you will be responsible for the design, development, documentation and unit testing of SAP applications and tools, using ABAP and related technologies. In this role you will be challenged to quickly come up to speed on the development environment and process, rapidly contributing to ongoing software development projects. As a contributing engineer you will be given responsibilities to design, develop, document and test your software.

In this position you will also be given the opportunity to develop skills (or extend existing skills) in .Net/C#. You will be asked to support the development and maintenance of our Automate! Suite of products all of which are developed in these technologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide feature-level design, implementation, delivery and maintenance/enhancements of the company's products.
  • Translate features and requirements into Engineering design documentation and functional specifications.
  • Perform testing at the unit level.
  • Execute performance tuning of developed applications.
  • Provide engineering-level support of ABAP applications.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and training on SAP/ABAP technologies and on all product implementation decisions.
  • Prepare estimates for the development and delivery of assigned features.
  • Be accountable for the implementation (including unit testing), functional completeness and delivery to performance, supportability, scalability, and testability goals.
  • Meet delivery commitments.
  • Work directly with the core engineering team from feature definition to delivery.
  • Must be able to create simple solutions to complex design problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience, with experience designing, developing, and implementing server or desk-top applications using object oriented programming.
  • Must posses experience testing at the unit level.
  • Five or more years of experience developing ABAP code for SAP applications.
  • Must poses experience with SAP Basis and operational knowledge of SAP Transport management process.
  • Experience with any of the following technical skills is a plus:
    - Object oriented programming languages (C#, C++, Java), .NET, XML, HTML, and/or JavaScript.
    - Relational database familiarity (MS Access, MS SQL Server, Oracle, MYSQL, DB2).
  • Familiarity with Object Oriented design and development principles and n-tier architecture with is a plus.
  • Must be able to adhere to a concise development software development methodology, spanning the full development lifecycle and rollout.
  • Applicants with experience in packaged applications (PeopleSoft, Oracle, Siebel, SAP, JD Edwards) are preferred.

Sales Development Representative

Contacts businesses in assigned territories to identify sales opportunities. The Telemarketer will work closely with Marketing and Sales to qualify prospects and set appointments by calling marketing responses, targeted contact lists as well as cold calling. Will assist the marketing and sales team in building the company's sales pipeline by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate qualified leads
  • Call contacts responding to marketing programs/campaigns
  • Compile lists of prospective customers, based on information from newspapers, business directories, and other sources.
  • Call businesses to identify key contacts and set appointments for Account Executives.
  • Add contacts and contact information to enhance the quality of the company's contact lists.
  • Achieve a minimum call volume of 70 calls per 8 hours worked.
  • Schedule a minimum of 20 qualified appointments with prospects each month.
  • Ask a series of questions to analyze customer's needs and identify whether a business is a good prospect for company's software solutions.
  • If a business appears to be a qualified prospect, discuss the benefits of the company's solution to their business and highlight the areas where this software will likely meet their requirements.
  • Conduct an online demo of company products.
  • Keep an accurate log of activities and businesses contacted, recorded in our CRM system.
  • Provide Weekly Activity reports (prospecting calls, conference calls, literature sent, etc.)
  • Submit qualified leads with an overview of the prospects company size, contact information, type of business, current environment, existing pain, areas of interest, and other pertinent information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Technical knowledge of software implementations essential. Experience selling over the telephone and qualifying prospects with complex needs. College degree preferred.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems (Salesforce.com preferred). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be persistent and professional on the phone with the ability to overcome objections. Professional appearance and presentation. Detail oriented.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience, with experience designing, developing, and implementing server or desk-top applications using object oriented programming.
  • Must posses experience testing at the unit level.
  • Experience using Microsoft.NET technologies and 3 years experience with C#.
  • Technical skills to include a combination of:
    - Object oriented programming languages (C#, C++, Java), .NET, XML, HTML, and/or JavaScript.
    - Relational database familiarity (MS Access, MS SQL Server, Oracle, MYSQL, DB2 preferred.
  • Experience developing software applications using n-tier architecture with back-end databases is a plus.
  • XML Web Services, SOA, COM, .Net Remoting, multithreaded application development, and Java skills are also a plus.
  • Must be familiar with formal software development methodologies and be comfortable following an established engineering process, spanning the full development lifecycle, including deployment and maintenance.
